Re: Central Review and General Officers Meetings July 22-24, 2004

Arrangements have been made for Central Review to be held July 22-24 at the Delta Halifax, 1990 Barrington Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia. The phone number is 902-425-6700.

MEETING SCHEDULE
Meeting space has been reserved beginning Thursday, July 22 through Saturday, July 24. As the meeting date approaches, further details will be provided. A continental breakfast will be provided each morning and refreshment breaks will be available throughout each of the meeting dates.

AIRLINE INFORMATION
Please use the account numbers indicated on the enclosed airline information flyer when making your flight arrangements to secure discounted airfares. The current expense policy, which requires boarding passes in addition to the airfare receipt for reimbursement, no longer allows for the advance reimbursement of airline ticket expenses. However, committee members may purchase their airline ticket through Tower Travel. Agents are available from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. CST Monday thru Friday, and from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays. In order to take advantage of additional airline discounts please make your reservations 30 days in advance of the meeting whenever possible. Tickets purchased through this agency will be invoiced directly to the SOA. Tower Travel can be reached at 800-542-9700. For more information, visit their website at www.TowerTravel.com. Callers should identify themselves as an “SOA Central Review” member.

HOTEL RESERVATIONS

  • Call the hotel reservations at 902-492-6471 to reserve your hotel room. A guest room rate of $139 single/double occupancy has been established. You must mention “SOA Central Review” to obtain this special rate.
  • Your reservation deadline is Monday, June 28, 2004
  • All reservations are to be made by individual call-in using the above number
  • Hotel check-in is at 3:00 p.m. and checkout is at 12:00 noon. All reservations must be accompanied by a first night room deposit, or guaranteed with a major credit card.
  • You are responsible for guaranteeing your room with a major credit card and settling your account on departure.

TRANSPORTATION
The hotel recommends the services of Air Shuttle Bus. Ticket counter is located at arrivals across from the baggage carousels. Cost one way is $12.00 /$20 round trip. For further information contact them at 902-873-2091. Taxis are also available at a cost of $40.

Please note: Automobile rentals for the Chairs and Vice Chairs will be considered reimbursable provided the vehicle is used to transport other committee members. The Chair or Vice Chair may assign this privilege to a committee member as long as it is so noted in writing to the Coordinator of Core Studies and Global Initiatives. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) should be taken; all other insurance coverage should be declined. All other car rentals will be reimbursed up to the cost of round trip taxi fare.

Enclosed for your information are current expense guidelines for E&E committee members.
Please read this carefully for information on the expenses the SOA will reimburse.

As a reminder, original boarding passes must be included as part of the documentation submitted with your expense claim.
